French Acadian Christening Gown, Bonnet & Slip

This style is characteristic of the style worn in South Louisiana in the early 1900's.  Although the originals were hand made machine instructions along with hand instructions are included here.  There are two variations of the same gown in this pattern.  One gown includes hand Hemstitching and Tucks (you can always adapt these techniques to your machine if desired) and the other simplifies the gown without losing the lovely French Acadian look.  There were many variations of this gown that were sold in the New Orleans Baby Shops long ago and are still used to Christen or Dedicate the newest generation of babies today.  When you make this lovely Gown and Bonnet, you are stitching a little bit of Louisiana history.  Baby Slip pattern is included, and features a ruffle at the hem to give fullness to the gown.  The Gown is the classic 27" length.  It can be lengthened or shortened as desired.  Bonnet matches the Gown.
